We work in partnership with people
to achieve outcomes
Over the years we have developed an approach which we refer to as |
We recognise that no-one is completely independent
and that we all rely on others in different ways to achieve our goals. |
The Keys to an Independent Life
Giving and Receiving
|
ResponsibilityThis is understanding the choices available to us and accepting the consequences of the decisions we make.
We all make decisions everyday. In everything we do we are making choices and decisions. Learning to take responsibility for our choices is one of the most important steps to achieving greater independence. We are allowed and it is our right to take risks in our life or make decisions that other people might think are unwise. At Integrity Care and Support we want to support people to live the life they want and to understand the choices and risks available. For example this might be spending money on bills rather than going out and having a good time, keeping on top of housework, eating a healthy diet etc... |
ResilienceThis is about being able to deal with some of the challenges in our life and in the world.
Not everything goes our way all of the time. Sometimes things happen we don't like or that hurt us in some way. Knowing what to do or where to go for help is part of being more independent. When we can show others we can deal with difficult situations then we are ready to take on more responsibility and independence. |
At Integrity Care and Support we help people to achieve independence by:
EmpoweringWe are all powerful and have power with regards to our choices and the lives we lead.
We recognise that everyone already has all the tools they need to live the life they want. We see it as our job to help people discover where the tools are and how to best make use of them. We want to support people to speak up about what is important and to achieve their goals as independently as possible. |
EncouragingWe all need others to inspire us with confidence and courage at times.
At Integrity Care and Support our approach is one of unconditional positive regard for everyone. We recognise that everyone is valuable and can achieve great things every day. For example this could be making a meal or a cup of tea, giving a speech to dozens of people, or learning something new that we never thought possible. Our aim is that everyone we work with feels genuinely supported by us to continue to build and develop every day to take those next steps to greater independence. |
Enabling'Enable' is the opposite of 'disable'. It is about recognising that we all need support to achieve things in our life.
Enabling people is about ensuring people have the tools and support in place that they need to live the life they want and do things that are important to them. It is about removing barriers to achieving goals and ensuring that everyone has a fair chance and is treated equally by others. |
