About Grierson

Grierson Ramsay has been a qualified social worker for over 10 years. He has worked in adult social work teams across the UK as both a social worker and a social work manager.

Prior to qualifying as a social worker, since 1995 Grierson worked with various voluntary organisations for a number of years. Working with adults and children in a wide range of activities such as taking groups out for an evening, facilitating day trips for children in women's and homeless hostels, doing soup runs for homeless people, facilitating activity holidays for children with disabilities and more.

In 1999 Grierson started working as a professional support worker in various settings. Working as a nursing auxiliary in hospitals, a care worker in nursing and residential care homes for older people, as support staff in psychiatric units and wet houses, in residential and supported living settings for people with learning disabilities, physical impairments, mental health issues and challenging behaviour. He spent a lot of time working in specialist units for children and adults with brain injuries and epilepsy related conditions, as well as autistic spectrum disorders.

In 2003 Grierson started training as a social worker and qualified in 2005. He subsequently worked in an adult learning disability team for a number of years before moving on to become a social work manager. He has worked in both rural and urban areas and has been highly rated by the teams he has worked with and managed for the clarity, commitment and deep understanding of policy, process and legislation that helped guide decision making in very challenging and risky situations.

Grierson became a social worker as he is committed to improving the quality of life for people who are disabled and recognises that disability is more about how society is organised than it is about any individual conditions or impairments. Integrity Community Support has been set up to continue this commitment and to provide the best service possible to people with physical or mental impairments and to continue to work to remove the obstacles and barriers to opportunities through a deep understanding of the care and support system.
